Oregon Sugar Pod peas are incredibly hardy, high-yielding vines. Originally bred to do well in the cooler Pacific Northwest by Dr. Jim Beggett of Oregon State University. The flat pods are about 4 inches (10 cm.) long and have a vibrant shade of green. Growing Oregon Sugar Pod peas is more manageable than growing vines since they are bush peas, only 36 to 48 inches (90-120 cm.) tall.

Peas do well when it's cool (think spring & fall).  For the highest yields, make sure they have a trellis to climb.  This ensures more of the plant gets sun.  Continually harvest ripe pods to increase the harvest time.  If saving for seed &/or soup, leave the pods on the vines until they dry & the seeds (peas) become hard.
